The construction of local treatment facilities was completed at the state site of the “Kulibin” SEZ in Dzerzhinsk
The construction of local treatment facilities has been completed at the state site of special economic zone (SEZ) “Kulibin” in Dzerzhinsk. The local treatment facilities are required to treat stormwater runoff to a level that is safe for the environment.
The state site occupies a large part of the total area of SEZ – 416 hectares out of 724.7 hectares. To date, the construction and installation works for the checkpoints, gas and power supply networks, and telecommunications have already been completed. The motor roads are in an advanced stage of readiness.
In addition, the construction of industrial and production buildings and an administrative building is underway in parallel. Works at the facilities include the installation of engineering networks, roofing, the erection of metal structures, reinforced concrete structures and facade panels, as well as the construction of driveways and outdoor lighting.
It is planned that this year a number of companies will begin constructing their production facilities at the state site of SEZ. Currently, 58 companies are residents of the Kulibin SEZ. Their projects can be viewed on the website: https://sezkulibin.ru/en.
The management company of the “Kulibin” SEZ is the Development Corporation of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
“The completion of the local treatment facilities is another important milestone within the large‑scale project to create a major industrial site of the “Kulibin” SEZ,” said Igor Ishchenko, Director General of the Development Corporation of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
For reference, the industrial special economic zone “Kulibin” was established in May 2020 on the territory of the Dzerzhinsk urban district. Today, the Dzerzhinsk part of the “Kulibin” SEZ covers an area of 724,7 hectares and includes the state site (416,7 ha), as well as private sites operated by DPO “Plastic”, “Oka‑Polymer”, and “Sintez OKA”. The private sites are already equipped with infrastructure. In November 2025, the Russian Government issued a resolution to expand the SEZ territory by another 117,7 hectares, incorporating a site in the city of Bor. The total area of the “Kulibin” SEZ now amounts to 842,4 hectares.
