Nizhny Novgorod Region ranked second in the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade’s industrial policy implementation efficiency rating
The Nizhny Novgorod Region took the second position in the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade’s rating of industrial policy implementation efficiency among Russian regions for 2024. The winners were awarded by Anton Alikhanov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, during the International Industrial Exhibition “Innoprom-2025” in Yekaterinburg.
The rating evaluates six key parameters: economic development, interaction with the industrial complex, regional state support measures, industrial infrastructure development, human resources potential, promotion of industry, and industrial products promotion. The final assessment is derived fr om the total score accumulated across all categories.
“Industrial development is undoubtedly a priority for the Nizhny Novgorod Region. One of the most important tasks under current circumstances is to involve and assist enterprises in participating in various support programs and attracting federal funds. Close cooperation between the relevant department and federal colleagues has enabled us to attract approximately 50 billion rubles through various programs over the past year, which is one and a half times more than in 2023. Additionally, our region hosted a two-day training under the “Federal Practice” program for the first time. Thanks to systematic work, we managed to make a significant breakthrough and rise from eighth to second place in the rating,” noted Gleb Nikitin, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
Anton Alikhanov presented the award to Andrey Sanosyan, Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
“The region strives to create the most favorable conditions for both existing manufacturers and investors. We are working on developing technology parks and industrial parks, assisting enterprises in expanding sales markets both domestically and internationally, modernizing support measures and digital services, and helping to attract additional funds. Over the past year, investments in fixed assets in the manufacturing industry increased by 36 percent,” said Andrey Sanosyan.
Maxim Cherkasov, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, noted that alongside federal support measures, the Nizhny Novgorod Ministry of Industry implements regional support programs as well.
“We develop and launch support programs based on the needs of our enterprises. For instance, last year, our industrialists received financial support for equipment leasing, interest rate compensation on loans, and product promotion on the internet. The total funding amount across various regional programs exceeded 600 million rubles. We are also actively working through the Industrial Development Fund. In total, during 2024, 55 Nizhny Novgorod industrial companies received preferential loans totaling 6.3 billion rubles through federal and regional fund programs,” Maxim Cherkasov reported.
He added that according to last year’s results, the regional Industrial Development Fund ranked first in the country in terms of the number of projects funded through joint programs with the Russian Industrial Development Fund.
