Nizhny Novgorod Region's GRP grew by 2.5% in the first quarter of 2025
The gross regional product (GRP) of the Nizhny Novgorod Region increased by 2.5% in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
"As we predicted, manufacturing and high-tech industries remain this year's key growth drivers. Both our national and regional economies continue expanding despite sanctions and tight monetary policies," emphasized Egor Polyakov, Deputy Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The largest economy growth contributors was the manufacturing industry (+6.8% in comparable prices, accounts for around 27% of GRP), including the following sectors: fabricated metal products – +25.3% (10.4% of the manufacturing industry), computer production – +37% (7.8%), petroleum products – +24.3% (4%).
Additionally, moderate growth was indicated in the IT sector (+15.8%), R&D (+8.3%) and transportation (+4.8%).
This growth aligns with objectives of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy", launched in 2025 by President Vladimir Putin. The project is aimed at boosting SME development, enhancing labor productivity and increasing investments in fixed capital.
